  95. W1AW's experience may be a bad omen for the semi-automatic digital stations.
  96. Despite the fact that W1AW only uses one frequency per band, at only certain
  97. hours of the day, using a widely-published schedule that rarely changes,
  98. and has hundreds of users, there has STILL been a fair amount of bitching 
  99. and complaining about it.

  101. The digital stations will come on in much greater numbers, at random times
  102. with no published schedules, with only one pair of users per frequency.
  103. (Even if you count each message originator as a "user", it's still less
  104. than W1AW.)  I expect the bitch level to be +30 or +40 dB.  :=)

  148. The service manual shows the wiring diagram of the mic. I think they 
  149. use a couple of resistors to vary the voltage (or current) fed back
  150. to an A to D to distingush between the various buttons. It's simple,
  151. I just don't recall clearly what it was.

  200. Why drag our butts? Why settle for a magnitude slower? Why go with 400Mhz? 
  201. Sure it was hot stuff in the forties as was 1200 baud 10 years ago. How about 
  202. an S-band spread spectrum(direct synthesis) kit. Something that will enable 
  203. hams to carry multiple conversations or high speed data streams at once.  
  204. Dream a little dream. What would be the requirements? Digitized compressed 
  205. video would be one. Perhaps a minimum of 56k data channel. Digitized voice to 
  206. be carried over the backbone. Everyone having a personal mailbox or line code 
  207. for IRC type comms(with the aforementioned video). Help me out here what else 
  208. would the standard need. I just attended a meeting for distance learning over 
  209. the internet. Its not there for the majority. We can lead the way. Lets go, 
  210. get this big ball rolling.
